2015 Corporate Responsibility Report
The Davey Tree Expert Company (Davey Tree)—one of the largest employee-owned businesses in the United States—provides tree, utility, lawn care, and environmental consulting services to commercial, residential, and utility markets throughout North America. BrownFlynn has been Davey Tree’s partner in Corporate Responsibility since 2013—helping to develop, implement, and communicate Davey’s Corporate Responsibility strategy.
The 2015 Corporate Responsibility Report, Davey Tree’s fourth corporate responsibility report, was published in 2016. The report builds upon Davey Tree’s Corporate Responsibility Pillars, aligning content to Davey’s most significant CR impacts and opportunities. Considered its most successful report yet, the 2015 Corporate Responsibility Report was lauded by employees, customers, and other stakeholders.
Davey Tree plans to perform a more robust materiality assessment in the coming year to further inform its corporate responsibility strategy and evolve its reporting to the Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) G4 Guidelines.
BrownFlynn was responsible for content development, copywriting, design, and project management. Additionally, BrownFlynn managed the data collection and calculations process, ensuring reliability and adherence to GRI.
Breaking from traditional tree imagery in previous reports, the 2015 Corporate Responsibility Report evokes a more artistic feel—marrying painterly leaf imprints and playful curving shapes with people-centric photography. The Report includes full spreads highlighting stories of Davey Tree’s strategic philanthropy in the communities in which it operates, helping provide value through ecological services.
The 2015 Corporate Responsibility Report serves as a precursor to Davey Tree’s materiality assessment, narrowing reporting to the Company’s most significant corporate responsibility impacts and opportunities. Praised internally and externally for both design and content, the report is considered Davey Tree’s finest yet.
