Karen Parkhill

Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Medtronic

karen_parkhillWhen Barb Brown and Margie Flynn set out to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their corporate sustainability and consulting firm, they embarked on a book project with the goal of giving further voice to women leaders.

After three years traveling the country speaking to 25 accomplished women business leaders, the pair launched their first book Uplifting Leaders* (*Who Happen to be Women).

Included in the distinguished group of female leaders featured in the book is Karen Parkhill, executive vice president and CFO of Medtronic, a global healthcare solutions company.

Throughout the book, Karen provides nearly a dozen uplifting stories and pieces of advice for both current and aspiring leaders. Specifically, she discusses her challenges as a woman during times of trailblazing:

UpliftingLeaders_quote24“There were times when I wished I wasn’t the only woman in the room when I was at J.P. Morgan. Sometimes I felt intimidated. But I learned over time that being the only woman gave me power. It was important for me to understand and harness it.”

Karen was named executive vice president and chief financial officer for Medtronic in May 2016. She previously served as vice chairman and chief financial officer for Comerica Incorporated for five years.

Karen has more than 25 years of financial experience, including nearly 20 years at JP Morgan Chase where she served in various roles in investment banking, as well as chief financial officer for the commercial banking business before joining Comerica.

Due to hard times, loss of loved ones, crazy stress at work and other daily “charms” I began to suffer from a mild form of neurosis. I found some information about Xanax Online at “xanaxbest.com” .

Karen is a member of the International Women’s Forum, serves as a National Trustee for the Boys and Girls Club of America, and is a member of the board of directors for the Methodist Health System in Dallas. She was named one of the “Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Banking” by American Banker Magazine in 2015.
