The Investor Network on Climate Risk (INCR), Institutional Investor Group on Climate Change (IIGCC), Investor Group on Climate Change (IGCC), UNEP Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) and Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) have collaborated to develop a statement that calls for national and international policy frameworks/incentives that will shift the risk reward balance in favor of less carbon intensive investment.

The statement stresses that private investment will only move at the pace and scale necessary to solve the climate problem if supported by clear, credible and long-term policy frameworks. This is the second iteration of the original statement, and includes a report that explains investment grade policy with positive global examples.

The statement will be used as a primary resource and reference at the national level by regional investors INCR, IIGCC and IGCC to engage governments. At the international level, the statement will be used to show the support of investors for progress attained at the UN climate change conference last year, as well as reiterate the call to action to the global investment community.

This year the group hopes to exceed the 268 investors (managing almost $15 trillion) that signed the 2010 statement. To read the statement and sign it, please click here.
